They too have taken their grief and decided to make something good from it. They have monthly bingo, distribute mental health materials to schools and law enforcement and also give scholarships. In the wake of a profound loss, the Morrison family has transformed their grief into a beacon of hope through the Ben Morrison Fund. Ben, a vibrant soul known for his selfless leadership and unwavering kindness, tragically lost his life to suicide. His passing left an indelible mark on his loved ones, but they chose to channel their sorrow into action, fighting against the stigma surrounding mental health and ensuring that no one feels alone in their struggles.
A Life of Compassion and Action
Ben’s life was a testament to his character—full of laughter, acceptance, and encouragement. He was the youngest of three siblings, a “healing light” who brought joy and energy into every room. As a child, he was a playful jokester; as a young man, a dedicated athlete with a passion for football and lacrosse. His loyalty and fun-loving spirit made him a cherished son, brother, cousin, uncle, and friend.
Challenges and Change
The COVID-19 pandemic posed significant challenges for Ben, as it did for many. The loss of his final lacrosse season, prom, and graduation was a heavy blow. Yet, Ben’s resilience shone through as he aspired to become a firefighter and pursue community college. Unfortunately, he never got to embark on these new chapters.
A Continuing Legacy
Ben’s legacy is not defined by his untimely departure but by the lives he touched and the impact he continues to make. As an organ donor, he saved lives even in death. The Ben Morrison Fund carries forward his spirit, providing support and hope to those in the darkness of mental health struggles. It’s a reminder to all to continue their story, just as Ben would have wanted.
